Ford manufactures the succesful Ford Transit at their Eastleigh plant close to Southampton. The site offers an extensive range of manufacturing processes as the Transit is assembled from the subframe, through paint, trim and final assembly.

The tour provides access to all three manufacturing buildings at the Eastleigh site as well as a route around the buildings themselves.

A VIEW of Ford supports the GCSE for Applied Manufacturing, offering examples and evidence which enables students to explore and investigate the manufacturing processes in a working environment.

The virtual tour also provides some evidence in support of the work related curriculum at Key Stage 4.

Developed with support from the South East England Development Agency, the VIEW of Ford is available from January 2005.

The VIEW of Ford was made possible by the considerable support of Ford who provided access to their workplaces, employees and other materials.

The introduction and contact with Ford was made possible through the support of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight EBLO Consortium.

Schools and Colleges in the South East (SEEDA) region are entitled to a free single user copy of a VIEW of Ford courtesy of this SEEDA funded project. They should make contact with their local Education Business Partnership to request their copy.
